WITHOUT WINGS

As I pecked my way out of the shell

I was blinded for a moment by the world outside.

Slept a little, walked a lot

I was born without wings.

"You are a bird; you have to fly"

Voices kept ringing from all directions

I tried to flap my tiny wings in vain,

And drowned my head ,each time, in shame.

Dreams of flying kept me awake

And one day, I took my first flight

Soaring high ,I flew across the seven seas

There I was, living my dream.

" You shouldn't be flying. You are not a bird"

Interminable echoes clouded my senses

"It is a nightmare, open your eyes"

I repeated to myself.

It was not long, before my wings were cut.

I don't fly, I crawl , I walk

May be someday;

I will fly without my wings.

BREATHLESS

Breathless as I was
Tears dripping down my cheeks
Desperate to let my voice be heard
I struggled to let out out a cry
Words got stuck
Choking me more
I could see the light dimming
And the world dancing in my eyes
I saw my end as close as it can be
Unseen claws strangling me
I fought
Straining till my throat tore apart
I managed a word
Gathering the little strength
I screamed..
A Never ending screaming
Earth shook
Skies rumbled
It began to rain!

STILLNESS OF BEING

Life was not always still
It was the noise and pomp
Celebrations, never ending talks
Smiles, laughter
Occasional fights
Everyone tells life is short
But no one told me joys are short
Do I blame them?
No, I dont
Its just my naive being that forgets
Life is not life anymore
Its silence and more silence
The occasional rings from unknown numbers
That is what life is
The Stillness of my being!

NEVER TOO LATE

Its never too late to change,

When your life itself, appears to be strange,

I realise this, with mixed feelings,

Not sure of the future ,that is beckoning.

Puzzles are all , I have in my life,

Pricking me as heartlessly as a knife,

Solutions to these ,are still strangers,

I hope this does not ,end me in dangers.

A faint light in the horizon,I perceive,

That is the only impetus, I receive,

The walk to the end seems so long,

But,the urge to go on is too strong.

I don't want to be the best,

Nor to compete with the rest,

I just want to be the change,

Because, I know,its never too late to change...

BROTHER

Hard to describe,deep to search,
The more I ponder, the farther I reach.
What to think, what to write,
Words are not enough, to give my insight.

Weeks ago, we were worlds apart,
With no clue as to, what were to start.
Was it by chance or was it fate?
Somehow, I got into another state.

Dissimilar were we, in thousand ways,
But,once a bond is made,forever it stays.
No pen or paper, can etch its depth,
And, it is as precious as my each breath.

Somewhere along, into my life, you came,
Ever since that,nothing is the same.
Without you, no moment would be the best,
And always you have, stood apart from the rest.

For all the love and the care , you bestow,
How to thank, I hardly know.
You are the treasure, that I don't want to lose,
My only brother, I was so lucky to choose.

DREAMS

Neither the dreams nor the hopes were mine,
They were all pushed into my world,
By the unparalleled bonds of the earth,
With no means to resist its strength,
It dawned on me, the pain of the miseries untold,
Too strong to make me whine.


Nothing in my life is genuine,
Not even the smile that plays in my eyes,
For deep beneath it lies , the truths of my life,
Every glance reflects the helplessness of my life,
The remains of my trampled dreams,
The dreams that were solely mine.

Here I am, staggering beneath the burden,
With the weight of the hopes,pinning me down,
I hope nothing goes wrong in the path ahead,
For every second,is worth more than a story read,
And I don't want to end up as a clown,
But a girl with a boon from heaven.

SISTER

I came to this world,not alone,
I had you ,ahead of me,showing the way,
Your every word to me, is a lesson,
That keeps me going,each day.


You hated seeing tears in my eyes,
Often I wondered ,how you could be so unkind,
Now,I realize,where your aim always lies,
You want me to grow up,with a strong mind.

You are the meaning of my life,
The true essence of what I am,
Your voice and your smile,light up my life,
With the glow that will never scram.

When my heart broke bit by bit,
You gathered it all up in your warm embrace,
Without "YOU" ,there is no "I", I admit,
You are the gem, that no one can replace.

SILENT PRAYER

Keep me safe in your heart,

As tenderly as a priceless art,
As you have done from the start,
And years to come,after I part.


When you find time,to close your eyes,
Or, to stare across the wide blue skies,
Take a step back, to soak in the memories,
That brought us close ,in our lives.

Silent tears may turn you blind,
When your friends forget to be kind,
In me, a listener you can always find,
To spill all that is ,in your mind.

Life may lead us somewhere,
We may not meet anywhere,
But,in my thoughts you will be there,
As sweet as, you always were.

WILL

Will someone help me out?,
Tears are never going to end,
And,life is too hard to bend,
I am just burning out.


Will someone show me the way?,
To bring a smile on my face,
And,to bring me inner peace,
Before I fade away.

Will someone be my strength?,
My life has become a question,
And,it has lost its mission,
I doubt me walking the whole length.

Will I be myself again?,
Every moment is a burden,
As,I silently watch everything happen,
Doing nothing again and again.

ALONE

As I sat,in the brightest corner,
I yearned to be in the midst of everyone.
But,every face,I perceived,was of a stranger,
And, it dawned on me ,"I am alone".


I searched around for a smile,
Longing for a friendly face,at least a glance.
I realised ,in vain,after a while,
That in their hearts,I had no place.

Every sunrise,marks the start,
The start of my search for a place,
A heart which offers me comfort,
And to be with me forever, in my life's race.

TO

Give me a reason to smile,
To let my heart leap for a while,
And,
To make my life worthwhile.


Remember me in your prayer,
To let me know that you care,
And,
To show me that you are there.

Stand by me so near,
To wash down all my tears,
And,
To make me feel so dear.

You are all that I have,
To shower with my love,
And,
To love me like a dove.

DON'T LIKE

I don't like it in all worlds,
When you don't understand me.
For I never felt the need of words,
To let you know what I am.


I don't like it at all,
When you speak little of what you want.
For I like to hear you talk of all,
In a voice that deepened our bond.

I don't like it when you falter,
Pausing to think of what to say.
For I like to know you better,
And your words are the only way.

I don't like it when you are down,
Thinking that you have no one.
For I like to see you brighten the town,
Bringing smiles to the faces of everyone...

NEVER KNOW

You never know,where life takes you,
Each day comes,with full of promises,
Still,when the day ends with you,
Hardly there is,any surprises.


You never know what life gives you,
Each moment gives you new friends,
Still,when disasters strike you,
There will be none to hold your hands.

You never know what life teaches you,
Each step ahead holds a mystery,
Still,when tests confront you,
You barely stand up to the reality.

You never know what life is,
Before you realize it,you are gone,
So plunge into it,soak in its bliss,
And share your smiles with everyone..

REMEMBER ME

All the bygone years,rain I did detest,
You walked into my life,
And the changes you made,little did I expect.
Slowly,I was learning.. ,to love the rain...


Innumerable days,we spent ,soaking in the rain,
And little did we care,of the untimely woes.
"Ours was a friendship,blossomed in the rain",
Nothing can break it,not even our foes.

It was another monsoon day,
That drove me to misery.
With tears in our eyes,we parted our ways,
Assuring each other,never to cry.

Now,as the raindrops kiss my face,
I miss our walks in the rain.
Each raindrop is your trace.
I hope you too remember me, in each rain...

LOST FRIEND

A step way,but miles apart,
This makes my happiness to depart.
You are there in this world so wide,
How I wish to have you by my side.


You seem to haunt me day and night,
I seem to like you more,by every sight.
Yet,you pass by like a stranger,
Indifference ,just grows stronger.

Walking past me ,with cold eyes,
You leave me ,as frozen as ice.
Slowly melting...melting away,
In your cruel,unfriendly way.

Hopes were there,as high as Everest,
Knowing you were the sweetest.
Never it stays, bright forever,
Meeting their ends, as soon as ever.

Sun and stars, rise and set,
I find everything difficult to forget.
I know a day will come,
And surely,you will have to come.

WISH

I wish I could tell you what I feel,
But worldly bonds choke me every time .
With wounds that time cant heal,
My heart does forget its beats at times.


I wish that the whole world was one,
But everyday a new barrier is born,
With the power to enslave everyone,
Each day it strengthens its throne.

I wish I knew what I can do,
To put an end to its mighty rule.
With the biggest task to do,
I now realize, life has turned me into a fool.

I wish I could tell you how I care,
But I don't want to make you cry in the end.
With every second I love you even more
And it will remain the same till my end..

HOPE

When I was alone,
I wished to have you by my side.
Along the thorny roads I traversed,
Hoping to meet you at its end.
The end was reached, I found none,
But the arms of loneliness embracing me.
It held me tight ,caressing my hair,
For once I knew how heavy my heart was.
Time did fly to places unknown,
I got a friend solely to be mine.
Still, when my end was near,
I hoped for a hand to hold mine tight.
It remained a hope, a wish,
Because you never came along....

FRIEND

Lean and tall, with curly hair,
a toothy smile , making everyone stare.
I saw her from a distance ,
and, liked her at that instance.


She was , just a handclasp away,
But, I never got into her way.
A year passed by as swift as wind,
for me, she was never a friend.

Around the corner , another year ends,
and as if by magic , we are friends.
With the gaps slowly filling in,
I came to know her within.

A meek heart burdened with pains,
a life in which misfortune wins.
Life is no bed of rose for her ,
but I know the tough fighter in her.

Love for her , never will fade,
this is true as a promise made.
Let her be safe from Oblivions curse
and, live for a lifetime without any fears...

PAPPA

To be our strength in distress,
To hold our world together,
Filled with all love and goodness,
God gave us a father.


Bowing before hurdles at times,
We shook our heads in despair,
Taking part in fiery games,
We did not just play them fair.

Over and over ,we mark your words,
Winning always is no success,
But the courage to fly like birds,
When failures leave you in a mess.

When you pushed us into the crowd,
We found ourselves in chains of unrest,
Now, with hearts brimming with pride,
We say,"pappa ,you are the best"....

FOR YOU

Stood by them,with the heart of a rock,
unable to find the mock in their talk.
Life played yet another prank,
I was made a fool to be frank.


Cruel is the word ,I say,
for treating me in a merciless way.
Mistakes were a part of the past,
but deepest are the shadows they cast.

Life once seemed to be lively ,
gradually I began to feel so lonely.
Silence, just silence to grab on,
with no shoulder to lean upon.

Tears and wails lost in the air,
Gods don't seem to play fair.
Hardest are the tasks at hand,
with everyone talking behind my back.

A comforting hand to hold tight,
a faithful shoulder in times of fight.
A trusting heart in times of emotions ,
these are just my imaginations.

Will you be my trusted friend ,
for you will my heart be lend.
Stand by me all the time,
because i miss you every time.
