Today I read about Tejinder Singh- an a.c mechanic by day and taxi driver by night, who lives in Australia and spends the last Sunday of every month preparing and distributing food to the needy. There are days in his life when he doesn't get to sleep after his work as he has to prepare food for the poor people. What a man!
There are people who go that extra mile for other people and inspire others to do the same. I am reminded of one of my school friends, who started a NGO with her friends, to work with small children to ensure that they get what they want, to become who they want. While many of us (including me) think about changing lives of others; she made it happen!
Then there was this friend of mine, who complained that all colleges take students for village visits just for namesake. He knows what its to live in a village and things like that. I asked out of curiosity ;"If you feel like that; are you doing anything about it. I mean; are you helping any kid you know to live a good life?" There was no answer. Weekend parties, unlimited booze and other ways to get nirvana are ruling some of our lives. When will we think of other people who need just food before we down pegs after pegs and decide let me give my cash for someone who needs it. Well, today is the world of "My choice after all".
As a person who reads news first in the morning, I was losing my faith in humanity. These little acts of kindness by people like Tejinder keep telling me, "Don't lose your faith yet. You too can make the world a better place". After all APJ reminded us that thoughts result in action.
